Fred T. Parks
I grew up in Maryland digging for antique bottles in Baltimore City in the winter and in Saint Mary’s County, Maryland in the summer. St. Mary’s County was settled in the 17th century providing me with a treasure of Colonial and Indian artifacts. My antiques journey made a drastic turn at the age of 16 when I did my first bottle show, virtually selling out in 20 minutes. I witnessed my precious finds move from one dealer’s table to the next and to the next, then out the door. “Oops! I guess I’d better learn about this stuff.” At the age of 20, I opened an antiques shop as a general line antiques dealer, and I never looked back.
While my journey has included restoration, conservation, and auctioneering, my focus has been on art and objects from the late 19th and early 20th century.
After over 40 years in the art and antiques business, I have learned enough to know that there is always more to learn. I love studying, finding, sharing, discussing, buying and selling art and objects of good design and quality ~ function and form. I am drawn to that pivotal design period from the 1870’s to the 1930’s, as our inventory reflects. Having said that, I can’t help myself when spotting something in an ocean of black and white that sparkles of a different color regardless of its period or style. Quality and beautiful objects do not beg for attention, they simply are.
I spy with my little eye and here are my finds for you to buy.
